What Is a Day Counter Calculator?
Understanding day counting and date arithmetic.
Day counting explained
A Day Counter Calculator adds or subtracts a specific number of days from a given date. It answers questions like "What date is 90 days from now?" or "What was the date 60 days ago?"
The calculator accounts for variable month lengths (28-31 days) and leap years. Adding 30 days from January 15 doesn't simply give "February 15" — it gives February 14 (since January has 31 days).
Business days vs calendar days
Business days count only weekdays (Monday–Friday). Legal deadlines and shipping estimates often use business days. 30 calendar days contains approximately 21-22 business days.
Common uses
Return policies ("30-day return window"), legal deadlines ("file within 60 days"), project planning ("deliver in 45 days"), and medical schedules ("follow-up in 14 days") all use day counting.
When to Use a Day Counter
Common day counting scenarios.
Shipping & Delivery
Estimate delivery dates by adding shipping days to the order date. Track when packages arrive based on carrier timelines.
Legal Deadlines
Count filing deadlines, appeal windows, and statute of limitations periods. Many legal deadlines are specified in calendar or business days.
Medical Follow-ups
Schedule check-up appointments. "Return in 14 days" or "Follow-up in 6 weeks" — know the exact date to book.
Return Policies
Check if you're still within a 30-day return window. Count from the purchase date to know your last day to return.
Project Milestones
Set milestone dates by counting project days from the kick-off. "Phase 1 complete in 45 days" — find the exact date.
Prescription Refills
Count when a 90-day prescription runs out. Plan refill dates to avoid gaps in medication.
Day Counter Examples
Common day counting scenarios.
90-day return policy
Bought on Jan 1 → 90 days later = April 1. Last day to return or exchange the item.
30-day notice period
Notice given June 1 → 30 days later = July 1. The effective date of the notice.
14-day quarantine
Exposure on March 10 → 14 days later = March 24. End of the quarantine period.
